The Enchanted Succulent Forests of Puerto Rico

Peter Beiersdorfer will present a talk entitled "The Enchanted Succulent Forests of Puerto Rico". This talk follows his earlier talk in August on finding the rarest US cactus species on the small island of Culebra off the shores of Puerto Rico. It will highlight the many succulent plants that can be found on the island, including succulent plants from families such as the Euphorbiaceae, Apocynaceae, Agavaceae, Bromeliaceae, and the Cactaceae. It will also discuss some of the threats these plants face from introduced invasive species, fire, and disease. The areas in which these plants can be found are some of the most scenic places on earth, certainly for succulentophiles.

Peter will bring a collection of plants for sale.
