At this month’s meeting, Joseph Hidalgo will present a program on pottery, staging, and plants.

Joseph began creating pottery for his cacti and succulents in 2011 after struggling to find pots that suited his plants. Before making his own pieces, he scoured pottery markets throughout San Francisco and the East Bay, but found that many of the pots were too symmetrical and the glazes too shiny.

He wanted a more organic look, pottery that would complement, rather than overpower, the xeric plants he intended to enter in shows.
