Joseph Hidalgo: Staging

For our meeting this month, Joseph Hidalgo will be sharing his sense of creativity with us. He will be showing us how he matches plants to pots and going over the basics of pot selection and staging.

Joseph got started creating his own pottery for his cacti and succulents in 2011 in response to not finding pots he liked for his plants. Prior to making his own creations, he scoured pottery markets in San Francisco and the East Bay. The pots were too symmetrical, and glazes too shiny. He wanted a more organic look to match, compliment and not overpower the xeric plants he wanted to enter into shows.

He will be bringing a few of his fabulous pots to sell! In addition, he’s invited his friend Diane Salewski (aka AbsolutelyCactus) who will be bringing a few flats of cacti and succulents for sale.
